Make Sure Your Ford Mustang Right Hand Drive Conversion Is Done Properly

By Karyn Shields

Not all markets offer the same vehicles for car lovers to enjoy. The Ford Mustang right hand drive conversion needs to be done very carefully. It is a long and tedious procedure as there are five different panels that need to be removed. All of the original welding spots will need to be removed and then replaced with panels specifically made for right hand drives.

The manufacturer is planning on brining out this new design in the first half of 2015 and all of these will be made in their Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan. The plant is 270 000 metres square and has about one thousand and seven hundred employees. Its name has changed over the years from MCC in 1972 - 1981, to Mazda Motor Manufacturing USA from 1987 - 1992, Auto Alliance International from 1992 - 2012 and is now the Ford Motor Company.

Before they even begin with the process they will explain in detail everything that they will need to do. All staff has been trained by experienced workers in this field to duplicate the unique manufactured integrity. If one gets a bad conversion it will make the car lose its look as well as bring the sale value down. It could also be dangerous to drive around.

When buying a Ford Mustang that has been changed from a LHD to a RHD there are a few important checks that should be noted. This is to ensure that the safety as well as quality of the car is still good. A road worthy car is safer for the driver and the passengers as well as all of those that are sharing the same road.

The first official design of the Gremlin was done by a twenty three year old in 1967. The innovative idea started one year earlier when the chief designer was discussing ways on how to shorten the compact car with his stylist. This was done on an aeroplane where the drawing was done on an air sickness bag.

The outer surface as well as under the bonnet must be inspected. All indicators need to be checked to see that all the changes are neat and that all lenses are moisture free. The cooling systems, air conditioning and well and the fuel and oil lines need to be fitted onto the engine bay correctly. There must be no sign of damage or leaks at all.

Check under the dashboard next and ensure that there are no wires hanging down and that they appear neat. If there is an electric chair do all the controls work properly and have the switches been fitted neatly and correctly. Are all of these switches on the correct side of the seat?

Once the right hand drive conversion is completed take it for a drive to ensure that the clutch feels normal and is smooth. The gear selection must be effortless with no grinding sounds. The brakes must feel smooth and the car must stop successfully, there must be no unusual feelings when stepping down on the pedal.
