Return Of Alfa Romeo US Sales Is Serious, Really

By Cornelius Nunev

Fiat is very severe about bringing Alfa Romeo back to the U.S.. Granted, the before an Alfa Romeo US return was guaranteed, they were then too and the time they promised it back in 2000. It's a neat idea, but does have to be taken with a pillar of salt.

4C sports vehicle to spearhead Alfa Romeo U.S. return

For some time, Fiat has been guaranteeing the return of its luxury brand Alfa Romeo to the States. The brand fits between two other Fiat brands that are a little more luxurious and just a little less.

Alfa, essentially Italy's answer to BMW, has been gone from the United States for a long time but in the past year or two, is proven, then un-confirmed, then re-confirmed for a stateside launch. First they said 2013, then 2014, then 2013 again.

Right now, according to NBC News, there is still a plan for a return of Alfa Romeo United States sales. Fiat's plan is still to sell the Alfa Romeo 4C, a beautiful two-seater sports vehicle. According to the Star Phoenix, a newspaper in Saskatoon, Canada, it's supposed to hit dealerships later this year.

A big grain of salt

However, news of resumption of Alfa Romeo United States sales should come with a few grains of salt. First of all, not many people will get one, so it's type of pointless. The 4C will be very costly. It's a halo car and is going for halo car costs, projected to go for $75,000 to $100,000, according to NBC News. If one were to run that through an auto loan rates calculator, those are payments few can afford.

The Star-Phoenix explained that the carbon fiber cabin means that only 2,500 will be produced annually.

Alfa has been gone from the States since 1995, and it did not sell a lot even when it was here. In 1986, it sold 8,201 vehicles, but that was the most it ever sold in a year. According to Car and Driver, it may never show up anyway considering promises never come through recently.

Since they pulled out, they sold a few 8C Competizione roadsters in 2008, but that is the only movement that has been seen in the nation. In fact, Alfa has guaranteed a return each year since 2000, though they seem a bit more significant this time.

Press cares more than typical person

Alfa Romeo was well-known for being really unreliable in the past. The media is making it look like a huge deal, but a lot of people do not care that it is coming back. In fact, it is just one more luxury brand to select from, but many people will go with what they already have and feel comfortable with.

Really, the only reason to purchase an Alfa over anything else is the fact that the vehicle is ridiculously beautiful. The Geneva Motor Show and other auto shows all over the world will show off the concept Gloria later this year, according to Automobile Magazine, but it is anticipated to be beautiful. We can already see the 4C and 8C, and those automobiles are better-looking than anything I've ever seen.
